There are many theories as to the origin of the standing stones at Avebury that were constructed some 2,500 years ago but a unique discovery by Robert Lamont in the 90’s links the site to the pyramids in Giza. He says he made the discovery after examining theories that the pyramids in Egypt reflect the alignment of the Orion Star constellation.
Studying a map of the historic sites at Avebury he saw the Orion’s belt pattern reflected by The Sanctuary, Stone Circle and Windmill Hill. He believes Avebury has its own Sphinx which can be seen when a mirror image is created of one of the principal stones in the inner circle.
